Rose Gordon's Bio
Ms. Gordon is a former resident of both the Madden Park Homes and the Robert Taylor Homes.
She graduated from DuSable High School in 1971 and went on to earn a B.A. in Education with
honors in Advanced Law Enforcement. Ms. Gordon also earned her Master’s Degree in
Business Administration from St. Xavier University. However, her proudest achievement is the
way she has given back to her community in gratitude for the many mentors and teachers who
helped her along the way.
For over 32 years, she served with the Chicago Police Department as a gang specialist, narcotics
investigator, and school officer at DuSable High School. Her intimate knowledge of her
community and people’s respect for and trust in students has helped her prevent as well as
solve crimes. She is known as much for finding food and clothing for students in need as for her
successful arrests of those who endangered our community. Rose also sought alternatives to
placing people in jail whenever it was feasible.
